Pat Henman Professional Theatre Biography – Director, Actor, Singer, Producer, Educator

Pat is a 38 year veteran of the Canadian theatre as an actress, singer, director, producer, mentor and teacher. A graduate of the Dalhousie University Theatre program, Halifax, Pat’s regional acting credits include the Muskoka Festival, Ontario (Melville Boys, Paper Wheat), Neptune Theatre, Halifax (Guys and Dolls, Endgame), The Globe Theatre, Regina (Snoopy, The Exception and the Rule), Kings Theatre Festival, Annapolis Royal (Crimes of the Heart, Dames at Sea), and Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador and the Stephenville Festival (The Fantastics, Oliver). Dracula, Cabaret, Liberation Day and Hedwig and the Angry Inch are among her directing credits. Pat appears on the original cast recording for the musical, ‘Death: The Musical’, and is the winner of Kootenay Music Awards’ Song of the Year 2012, ‘Movin’ On” for her debut album, Pat Henman, Solo. Pat has taught drama, voice and improvisation to youth and adults for the Dawson City Recreation Board, the Fort Qu’Appelle (Saskatchewan) Summer Youth Program, the Annapolis Royal Regional Library Summer Theatre Youth program and Neptune Theatre Acting School. She has been an active participant in the Artists in the School program, adjudicator for regional High School Drama Festivals in Nova Scotia, the Yukon and British Columbia, as well as teaching private vocals/singing lessons. She has directed youth in such shows as ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Story Theatre’. She has directed several community musical productions with children and adults including ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’ and ‘Cinderella’. Pat spent many years touring schools as a performer for Neptune Theatre (Halifax), Theatre on the Move (Toronto), Mermaid Theatre (Wolfville), and the Globe Theatre (Regina). In the summer of 2018 Pat completed a tour of Nova Scotia with her nine siblings promoting the original album, ‘Edge of Heaven: 10 Kids 10 Songs’, The Henman Family. Her latest acting role in March of 2018, Pat had the pleasure of performing in The Gin Game as Fonsia at The Capitol Theatre in Nelson, BC. She is currently directing the Black Productions spring musical, Mamma Mia!, opening May 23, 2019 at the Capitol Theatre, Nelson. Pat is an active supporter and volunteer for MADD Canada, fighting for the rights of victims of violent crime, plus Chair of the Capitol Theatre, Nelson, and sits on the provincial appointed Board of Directors for the BC Arts Council.
